Monument and Plaque at Michigan Avenue Bridge and Wacker Drive, Chicago
Latitude: 41.8888, Longitude: -87.6244
The modern city of Chicago was built following a history of peaceful resolutions to hundreds of years conflict and war. This monument remembers the Fort Dearborn Massacre of August 1812 durring the British-American War and tells one small part of the story. Prior to this, successive generations of French explorers, British colonial leaders and early American government officals successively made and broke 100s of treaties made with the local Native American Nations.
